The slave trade introduces West African rhythms, work songs, chants and spirituals to America, which strongly influence blues and jazz.
1919
After moving, jazz establishes Chicago as its capital. The city will become home to such jazz greats. Soon to be Motor City.
1923
“Queen of the Blues” Bessie Smith records her first song, “Down Hearted Blues,” which becomes an immediate success.

Way back, when humans still were finding their place, there was music. From beating a bone  in a rhythmical way, or humming a tone for a child to fall asleep, there was music. People have evolved over time though and learned ways to give a message threw song, a meaning. Now days people sing about love or sadness, or even about a topic in life when back then they sang about having each other or thanking the lords or gods for food. With this evolution came laws, like African-American music being disliked because of the authors color. Well, in 1950-1960s that changed. ​​
